TIPS
|
I cannot stress enough the importance of establishing good home work and study habits. Please encourage your child's success and pry into their school life from time to time (or frequently for some).
-
Ask your child if they have homework every day. They have 6 classes during the day so it will be rare that they will not have any homework for more than one day at a time from any class.
-
If your child is the unorganized type or forgetful of due dates and test dates, ask to see the planner that they were issued at the beginning of the year and MAKE THEM USE IT!
-
For some, a weekly progress report followed by consequences or rewards at home is the way to go.
-
Provide a time and place for your child to study that is distraction free. This means no T.V., radio, computer, brothers, sisters... you get the picture.
-
Ask your child HOW they study for a test. They need a plan for this. Whether it be rewriting the notes, creating songs, studying with a friend, rereading materials from class¦ THEY NEED A PLAN!!!
-
GO TO PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES!!!!
-
If you don't care how they are doing, why should they?
